The Braai Room Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions (“T&Cs”) govern all reservations, dining, and use of The Braai Room restaurant and its facilities. By making a booking or dining with us, you agree to comply with these terms.

1. Definitions

  • “The Braai Room” refers to the restaurant, bar, and related dining facilities.

  • “Facility” refers to the premises where The Braai Room is located.

  • “Booking Holder” refers to the individual who makes the reservation.

  • “Guests” refers to all persons dining under the Booking Holder’s reservation.

  • “Management” refers to The Braai Room management team.

2. Booking Policy

2.1 Reservation Requirements

  • Reservations are recommended and may be made via the official booking platform, phone, email, WhatsApp, or in person.

  • The Booking Holder must be 18 years or older.

  • A valid name, contact number, and guest count are required to secure a reservation.

  • Reservations for groups of 10 or more may require additional details and a deposit.

2.2 Booking Confirmation

  • Reservations are confirmed once acknowledged by The Braai Room via email, WhatsApp, or SMS.

  • Walk-in guests are welcome, subject to availability.

2.3 Group Bookings

  • Groups of 10 or more are considered group bookings and are subject to additional conditions.

  • A set menu or pre-order may be required for large groups.

  • A deposit may be required to secure the reservation (see Section 3.2).

2.4 Seating & Table Allocation

  • Seating preferences will be accommodated where possible but cannot be guaranteed.

  • Tables are reserved for the duration of the dining experience. Extended stays may be subject to table availability.

  • Management reserves the right to allocate seating as deemed appropriate.

3. Payment Terms

3.1 Pricing

  • Menu prices are as displayed on the current menu and are subject to change without prior notice.

  • All prices include VAT unless otherwise stated.

  • Service charges or gratuity may apply for group bookings, as indicated on the bill.

3.2 Deposits

  • A deposit may be required for group bookings of 10 or more guests, or for special event reservations.

  • The deposit amount will be communicated at the time of booking.

  • Deposits are non-refundable unless the cancellation conditions in Section 4 are met.

  • Deposits will be applied against the final bill.

3.3 Payment Methods

  • The Braai Room accepts major debit and credit cards, EFT (where applicable), and cash.

  • Full payment is due at the time of dining.

  • The Booking Holder is responsible for settling the full bill for their group unless separate accounts are arranged in advance.

3.4 Outstanding Balances

  • Failure to settle the full account may result in the matter being referred to a collections process.

4. Cancellation & Refund Policy

4.1 Standard Reservations

  • Cancellations made more than 24 hours before the reservation: Full refund of deposit or option to reschedule.

  • Cancellations between 6–24 hours before the reservation: Reschedule only (deposit not refunded).

  • Cancellations less than 6 hours before / no-show: Deposit forfeited; no refund.

4.2 Group Bookings

  • Cancellations for group bookings must be made at least 48 hours in advance for a full deposit refund.

  • Partial cancellations (reduction in guest numbers) within 24 hours may result in a minimum spend charge.

4.3 Late Arrivals

  • Reservations will be held for 15 minutes past the booked time. After this, the table may be released.

  • Please notify us as early as possible if you are running late.

4.4 Restaurant Closures

  • In the event of an unplanned closure due to circumstances beyond our control (load shedding, emergency, etc.), a full refund of any deposit or a rescheduling option will be offered.

5. Code of Conduct

5.1 General Behaviour

All guests are expected to:

  • Treat staff, fellow guests, and property with respect.

  • Follow instructions from management and staff at all times.

  • Refrain from abusive, threatening, aggressive, or disruptive behaviour.

Management reserves the right to ask any guest to leave without refund for misconduct or behaviour deemed inappropriate.

5.2 Dress Code

  • Smart casual attire is encouraged. Management reserves the right to refuse entry to guests dressed inappropriately.

5.3 Alcohol Policy

  • The Braai Room holds a liquor licence. Alcohol will be served responsibly and in compliance with applicable laws.

  • The Braai Room reserves the right to refuse alcohol service to any guest who appears intoxicated.

  • Bringing outside alcohol (BYO) onto the premises is not permitted unless prior written approval has been granted by management.

  • Guests who are visibly intoxicated upon arrival may be refused entry.

  • Illegal substances are strictly prohibited on the premises.

5.4 Children & Minors

  • Children are welcome. Guests under 18 must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

  • High chairs are available on request, subject to availability.

  • Management reserves the right to ask parents or guardians to manage disruptive behaviour.

5.5 Smoking

  • Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas, in compliance with South African law.

6. Food & Beverage Policy

6.1 Dietary Requirements & Allergies

  • Guests with dietary requirements or food allergies must inform their server before ordering.

  • While every effort will be made to accommodate requests, The Braai Room cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free environment.

  • The Braai Room will not be held liable for adverse reactions resulting from undisclosed dietary conditions.

6.2 Outside Food & Beverages

  • Outside food and beverages are not permitted unless pre-approved by management (e.g. celebration cakes).

  • A corkage fee may apply for pre-approved outside beverages.

6.3 Menu Availability

  • Menu items are subject to availability. The Braai Room reserves the right to modify the menu without prior notice.

7. Health & Liability

7.1 Waiver of Liability

The Braai Room and its staff are not liable for:

  • Injury or illness sustained on the premises arising from guest negligence or failure to follow safety guidelines.

  • Loss, theft, or damage to personal property while on the premises.

  • Adverse reactions to food where dietary conditions were not disclosed.

7.2 Medical Condition

  • Guests with medical conditions that may be aggravated by dining activities should take appropriate precautions.

7.3 Personal Belongings

  • The Braai Room is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Guests are encouraged to keep personal belongings secure.

8. Cleanliness & Facility Condition

  • Guests are expected to treat the restaurant and its facilities with care.

  • Any deliberate damage to property, furniture, or equipment caused by guests will be charged to the Booking Holder.

  • Excessive mess or damage resulting in additional cleaning may result in additional charges.

9. Privacy & CCTV

  • CCTV is in operation at our premises for safety and security purposes.

  • Personal data collected during the booking process is handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy (Part B of this document) and the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

10. Force Majeure

The Braai Room shall not be held responsible for any failure to honour reservations or provide services where such failure results from events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to power outages (load shedding), natural disasters, civil unrest, or government-imposed restrictions.

11. Amendments

Management reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions at any time. Updated versions will be posted on the official website or displayed at the restaurant.

12. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions shall be governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

13. Acceptance of Terms

By completing a reservation or dining at The Braai Room, the Booking Holder confirms that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms & Conditions.

  • Agree to be responsible for all guests under their reservation.

  • Accept financial responsibility for any damages or rule violations caused by themselves or their guests.

  • Consent to the collection and processing of personal information in accordance with the Privacy Policy.
