Picanha Steak with Mushroom Sauce

This delicious Brazilian-style picanha steak with mushroom sauce is the perfect meal for a special occasion. Ingredients:

  • 1 kg picanha steak
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 500g mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 500ml beef broth
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped

 

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 200°C.
  2. Rub the steak with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and brown on both sides, about 3 minutes per side.
  4. Transfer the steak to a baking dish and bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  5. Heat the remaining olive oil in the skillet over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  6. Add the butter and mushrooms and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Add the flour and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.
  8.  Gradually add the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  9. Add the parsley and stir to combine.
  10. Serve the steak with the mushroom sauce and mashed potatoes.
