WHO WE ARE.
Purveyors of great meat. Purveyors of great food.
Here at Country Meat, we benefit directly from the vast experience provided by Sernick’s 30 year plus understanding of the meat and agricultural sector. This enables us to bring a wealth of family knowledge and sound business principles to both the butcher’s block and the restaurant table. We honour the great traditions of our ancestry vigorously and care deeply about what we do for a living.
When we set set out on our meat-producing journey, we did so with this goal in my mind: to offer our customers natural, wholesome, great-tasting meat. In short, we set out to offer our customers the kind of meat we wanted to eat; meat the way it’s meant to be.
We pride ourselves on being one of only a select few value chains that can claim true farm-to-butcher status.
That means our meat comes from our livestock, precision-reared on our family farm, the natural way.
We use our own abattoir. We deliver our meat to our butcheries, in our trucks, where we cut it and premature it, ready for your enjoyment. Nothing is outsourced and there’s no middleman. We control the entire process and that’s why we can guarantee that only the best, tastiest, most wholesome meat ends up on your plate.
SUSTAINABLE FARMING
One of our guiding principles is the practice of precise sustainable farming. We respect our animals and ensure that they enjoy a healthy, cared-for lifestyle without compromising the land on which they live. We also produce our own animal feed and ensure that our meat is brine free.
The meat industry often focusses on the end product to the detriment of the environment. Our approach is different. We recognise that our animals’ health is dependent on the environment. Caring for the environment ultimately means caring for our livestock. Feeding our livestock the optimum balance of grain and grasses requires 45% less land, 76% less water and 49% less feed. We continually monitor and balance the eco-system of our farm to ensure that we sustain a natural, healthy environment.
A TWO-WAY STREET
Joining the Country Meat team is a long-term commitment. It’s about sharing in our passion for freshness and for superior quality. It’s a two-way street. It’s a friendship. We love the fact that our customers, suppliers and staff feel invested in the success of our business and in turn, we feel invested in the success of theirs.
We align ourselves with fantastic suppliers and staff that hold clients needs, product knowledge and sustainability as their priorities. We support local, smaller producers as much as possible, extending our focus on a personalised, intimate experience on to them. Each supplier contributing to the Country Meat menu is carefully selected to ensure that they have a shared passion for quality, freshness, natural products, hygiene and good relationships.
